Product Design

This is so cool! My client and friend Claudia came by to show me the finished product labels I designed for her Inflorescence Flower Essences line. I think they turned out pretty well! smile emoticon I was so excited seeing them out of the trunk of her car… we had to find a tree branch to take this product shot so I could share this with you all! smile emoticon YES! Collector Buttons for Kids

Just designed these collector buttons for a kids club for a southern CA Mall – Promenade Temecula. Each week features a different activity. Kids will be making mad scientist green slime, custom kites, birdhouses, tying pretzel knots, sailboat watercolor painting and doggie treats. It’s nice to swing half the day into something like this from clean corporate design.

Designing the San Francisco Small Business Week 2015 Program

I just finished all of the graphic design for this 32 page program for SF Small Business Week which is next week! If you are in the Bay Area… don’t miss it. Check out the program and come to the FREE all day conference, attend mixers and on monday night there’s the Flavors event at Metreon with free food and great business resource tables! Thanks to Adam Straus of strausevents for all your hard work giving me all of the content. It’s awesome working with you every year.

FlavorsSF Kick off Party

I have been graphic designer and creative director for San Francisco Small Business Week since 2006 and this year we did a lot of rebranding, including having our kick off party at SquareHQ which was great. Working with StrausEvents, I design the entire campaign and everything they need to support all the week’s events including all of the signage, brochures, programs, MUNI bus ads, newspaper and magazine advertising, HDTV jumbo-tron digital graphics, and so much more. Marriott International and Visa, Inc. also supported me as a photographer this year by having my artwork on their canvas give-away bag at the event. It was a great cross-promotional opportunity for me.

New Business Cards with Spot Silver

I’m testing out a new spot silver ink onto my newly-designed business cards. The card will go through the normal CMYK (4 color cyan, magenta, yellow, black) process and at the end it gets hit by a Silver Ink spot in places I want it to appear. This “test” design is pushing the limits as far as difficulty goes. The spot silver in the end will have to go around the white text areas and remain sharp. On the back, the moon will be hit with the silver as well. I look forward to seeing how the test comes out.

Cambodia for Visual Storytellers

For the last three weeks I went on the adventure of a lifetime… I took a photography workshop called, “Cambodia for Visual Storytellers” by Gavin Gough and Jack Kurtz. This was designed for professional photographers wanting to branch out and learn how to shoot for magazine spreads like National Geographic and such. We covered three major stories. We visited Cambodia’s capital city, Phnom Penh, where we learned about the country’s recent history with the Khmer Rouge. We then traveled to Battambang, to document rural life around the unique “Bamboo Railway”, and to the photogenic Angkor Wat temples. Read more…

Transitions Made Easy, Madison Kane, Troy Ziel, ZielCreative, brochure design

Making a dirty job look clean and inviting.

I just helped a client of mine with a brochure design… and her service offering may help someone out there. If you need clean-up or organizing of a severely disorganized space (think Hoarding… or massive amounts of clean-up needed, clearing out a squatted home that needs to sell, or a garage stuffed to the max and just needs to be sifted through…) Madison is the woman to call. I am shocked someone like her is so passionate for this kind of work… a pile of rubbish and some trash bags in her hands makes her fly! This is someone to keep in your contacts to refer for sure for those tough jobs.
